The result of the discussion was: manual merge. bibliomaniac15 04:59, 29 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: manually merge, hodgepodge category and most of the content is already in a more appropriate place in this tree, e.g. in Category:Psychiatry education. Marcocapelle (talk) 21:49, 8 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: Participation in the "CBeebies Bedtime Storyteller" program is not a defining characteristic of any of the people for whom this category is being applied to their biographical articles. General Ization Talk 19:59, 8 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: keep. bibliomaniac15 05:00, 29 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: Demolished buildings and structures categories by city do not include specific neighbourhoods, the exceptions (New York boroughs) are all at higher-level geographic areas. This is one category level too granular and is an WP:OVERCAT and should just be upmerged one level. SportingFlyer T·C 10:55, 21 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep. There are enough entries here and on the parallel Commons category. New York City is similar in that it is one of the only other cities with a list of its demolished buildings, and innumerous entries on its notable demolished buildings. I don't see how you can unilaterally declare any sort of cutoff with such a novel and small topic, and no precedents. As well, Portland, Atlanta, and LA have more granular categories already, defeating any rationale here. ɱ (talk) 12:50, 21 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Category:BDS activists

[edit]
The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: delete. bibliomaniac15 05:01, 29 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: The article creator seems to be tagging people who "support BDS" not in fact activists. This is a contentious category to be using to tag BLPs. It should be at least re-named and preferably deleted, per WP:USERCATNO: "Categories which group users by advocacy of a position" HouseOfChange (talk) 03:27, 9 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

//

  • I have changed my proposal from "rename" to "delete," because I think it will be in practice impossible to stop editors from using this category for BDS supporters in general, i.e. as a wall of shame ("BDS is antisemitic") to tag BLPs on the basis of "contentious material about living persons that is unsourced or poorly sourced." As an example of this happening, consider (arguably less toxic) Category:American anti-vaccination activists, which clearly states, "This category contains articles about activists who are primarily notable due to their anti-vaccination activism. This category is not a general list of people who hold anti-vaccine or vaccine-hesitant views (such as actors, musicians, or politicians)." In spite of that warning, notable BLPs get tagged into this category who clearly do not meet this qualification including currently Alex Jones and Naomi Wolf. Just to clarify, although I assume you all AGF about my motivations, I personally do not support BDS or vaccine hesitancy. My concern is with BLP articles, even for people with whom I disagree. HouseOfChange (talk) 23:04, 12 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per nom. Wikipedia as an encyclopedia is no place for political opinion battles. This category is part of such an ideological tugging. Away with such a category! And I also consent to HouseOfChange when he warns about almost unavoidable abuse. --Just N. (talk) 23:18, 15 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: rename to Category:Cabinets of Germany. bibliomaniac15 05:01, 29 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: This is more consistent with other categories about national cabinets, like Category:Lebanese cabinet. Renerpho (talk) 10:47, 8 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Comment In line with the alt rename suggested above by Marcocapelle, I have nominated Category:Lebanese cabinet for renaming to Cabinet of Lebanon, see this discussion. Renerpho (talk) 18:55, 15 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: rename to Category:Controversy over ethnic and linguistic identity in Moldova. bibliomaniac15 05:02, 29 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: Consistency with main article Controversy over ethnic and linguistic identity in Moldova. Super Ψ Dro 10:06, 8 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

That title isn't more neutral nor broad. It would only make the article's title shorter but also less precise. And yes, the article would have to be moved first. Super Ψ Dro 13:14, 9 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: keep. (non-admin closure) 2pou (talk) 22:04, 21 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: Delete overly specific, nearly empty, and really impractical category that does not add navigation any better than simply linking the article for the show. It is not helpful to create a new category for every series, film, or title in which a character has appeared. Doczilla @SUPERHEROLOGIST 09:18, 8 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The category might have been created too early, but seeing as how the first 3 episodes have drafts (Draft:Never Meet Your Heroes, Draft:Hide and Seek (Hawkeye), and Draft:Echoes (Hawkeye)) which will be moved in the near future to the mainspace, this category will be re-created. So the question is, is the deletion really necessary? Gonnym (talk) 12:39, 8 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Regarding the argument of "overly specific", that's a meaningless argument. Gonnym (talk) 12:40, 8 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with Gonnym that this was created a bit too early. Should at least 2 of the episode articles be moved to the mainspace, then it would be beneficial to have this cat. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 16:22, 8 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I am also confident, and this is just predicting, that Draft:Kate Bishop (Marvel Cinematic Universe) will eventually be on the mainspace, so even if the need for Category:Hawkeye (2021 TV series) episodes is there, this category will still get recreated. The result of the discussion was: merge to Category:Mental health in Croatia. bibliomaniac15 05:03, 29 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: delete, redundant category layer with only one subcategory. Even the UK and US siblings are lightly populated, the growth potential for a small country like Croatia seems limited. Marcocapelle (talk) 06:29, 8 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
